AIDS, Orphans, & Redemption

The Kingdom of Swaziland is the last ruling monarchy on the African continent. This is a beautiful nation with rolling hills, great resources, and a peaceful people. Under that glossy surface however lies a tragedy that has resulted in the decismated economy and an adult population that is sick and dying. The responsibilty of the nation sets on the backs of a dying breed of grandmothers called GoGos who have taken the responsibilty to care for their dying nation. It is the responsibilty of God's people to join these women in this journey.

AIDS

Forty-Six percent, nearly one half of all adults are currently infected by AIDS/HIV. The Kingdom, only a few short years ago had a population of 1.2 million people. Today, that AIDS ravaged people now count only 900,0000 in the national census. HIV is claiming a nation. AIDS is killing an entire generation.

ORPHANS

The greatest fall out to this tragedy is these orphans. Over 100,000 orphans currently have no structure to provide for their basic survival. These children's parents are dead, or to sick to do anything but wait and die. The problem is getting even worse, the worst projections I have read experts explain that by 2015 there will be more orphans than adults in the kingdom.

REDEMPTION

Satan has meant this tragedy for his glory. This plauge has resulted in a nation of children with no parents, no direction, and no moral discernment. These orphans are children being led by children. Some watch and imitate the detructive practices of the adult population. Still others, especilly young girls are raped and taken as domestic and sexual slaves by uncle who have not yet been killed by the disease. To look at the situation across the landscape of Swaziland, it appears that Satan has solidfied his rule over the destruction and extinction of these people.

"It's Friday now, but Sunday is coming." There is Faith, Hope, and Love for the orphans of Swaziland. There are people and families toiling tirelessly away to bring redemption to the fatherless orphans. When Christ died on a Roman cross, Satan claimed victory as his own. Yet it was in that act, the wisdom of his schemes became the foolishness God used to defeat him forever! In the same way, redemption is being brought to the orphans of Swaziland by the unified movement of God's church. Where Satan intended there to be no family, Christ's church has become their family. Where Satan intended a despair and hopelessness, God has provided The Way to a new future. Where Satan left these orphans in abandoned and hated, Christ's love is breaking through! The orphans of Swaziland can be the redemption of the plauge of AIDS by creating a family loomed together by the Spirit, and united in single purpose to Kingdom of God. What Satan intended for death, The Church, Christ's body on earth will work together to redeem for life.
